School Uniform
Our Expectations
At Winterton Primary School and Nursery we strongly encourage school uniform as we believe it fosters a sense of belonging and sets high expectations in all areas of school life.
School uniform is an important part of school life as it helps to create and foster a sense of community and a feeling of belonging. It demonstrates to children that there are codes of conduct and dress in society, especially in the working environment. We ask that all parents support us in ensuring that their children wear the correct uniform and are smart and presentable. We ask the children to ensure that they take care of their uniform and take pride in their appearance.
A smart appearance both in dress and hairstyle will convey a positive message about how a person values themselves and how they may fit into any learning or working community. In addition, your child will be representing our school when they learn off site at sports competitions, museum visits, residential visits.
If your child has any medical issues which require an adaptation of the uniform, please bring a letter from your GP or consultant and we will be happy to discuss this with you.
Please use your common sense when choosing hairstyles for your child. Whilst the school does not wish to dictate exact lengths or acceptable styles, it is important that you consider what the ethos of our school aims to encourage.
We are very proud of our school logo too, the very rare Natterjack Toad which is found at just a few coastal locations in England and Scotland where it prefers shallow pools on sand dunes, heaths and marshes and Winterton On Sea is one of them!
Our uniform consists of a royal blue sweatshirt or cardigan, white or pale blue polo shirt or school shirt and navy trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore dress. A range of clothing embroidered with our school logo is available to order from Screens Schoolwear. You do not have to buy the Branded uniform you can buy jumpers and T Shirts from most outlets that are a similar colour. The Friends also have a pre loved uniform shop - flyer is at the bottom of the page.
Children in years 3 to 6 wear our blue and yellow school tie.
Please remember that children need to change for PE, so clothing they can cope with is helpful for us all.
Our children spend their mid-morning and lunch breaks outside, so shoes which are comfortable and safe for running around are essential – no high heels please!
Your child should have a tee-shirt, shorts and plimsols for PE. Clothing should be loose enough for ease of movement with no strings, buckles or sharp fastenings.
Slip on plimsolls are recommended, and a drawstring bag to keep them in. Your child will need trainers and a tracksuit or a sweatshirt and jogging bottoms for outdoor games when the weather is colder.
Trainers must be worn on our trim trail and climbing wall.
PLEASE NAME ALL CLOTHING
Please adhere to our school's jewellery policy, which allows only watches (excluding smart watches with a camera) and stud earrings. Ear piercings should be limited to a single hole in the lobe, and only simple studs are allowed. For P.E. lessons, earrings must be removed or taped up. Any other form of piercing is not permitted.
Additionally, makeup, body art, and nail varnish are not allowed as part of our school uniform guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.
